I call bullshit.

If it doesn't come from Mother Nature, your body has no fucking clue how to process it. Your food, your medicine, your shampoo, your lotion, your fucking tampons.

But we do it anyway. We line up in the fast food drive through and the pharmacy. We hose our lives down with synthetic, poisonous chemicals, then wonder what the fuck is wrong with us, why we have chronic migraines and pain, why we have stomach issues, why we develop disease, why we can't conceive.

It's not your fault, we've been conditioned and led to believe that if it's convenient and fast and easy, it will fix all our problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. But, we're also conditioned not to seek the truth or question "authority". Because if we stir the pot, we'll get burned at the stake.

I've been helping take care of my grandmother on hospice for over a year. I've seen a lot, felt a lot, and experienced a whole ass lot as far as the "health" system goes in this time.

Now, this isn't a jab at anyone who trusts this system, but rather an opportunity to shift perspective for those of you that feel you are being failed.

I'm not sure when exactly it started for my grandmother, probably very early in life as she experienced several difficult traumas throughout, but I'll start with when I first took notice, when I was a child. I remember going to my grandparents house, and seeing things like diet soda, sugar-free candies, fake-ass butter, and Gramma using doctor prescribed meal replacement shakes to take off some extra weight. Throughout my childhood, her weight yo-yo'd as she was on-again off-again fad diets. There were also air fresheners everywhere, bottles of perfume and every chemical cleaning supply known to man. Then, she began to experience unexplainable chronic pain, and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I remember sitting at the kitchen counter when she asked me to hand her her purse. She took out a prescription bottle, opened it, and dispensed a tiny blue pill into her hand. Morphine. At the time, probably around age 7 or 8, I didn't know what this was. According to google, Morphine is an opioid medication used to treat moderate to severe pain. It works in the brain to change how your body responds to pain. According to me, it's a fucking band-aid used to cover up pain and not actually deal with it's cause. Which, in most cases I've experienced, is past trauma.

Fast forward to right now for a second...she is still on morphine for pain management. Not just one 15 mG long-acting dose per day, but three, along with a fast-acting oral liquid allowed up to once per hour, along with at least 10 other prescriptions used to treat COPD and congestive heart failure.

Now, this is where the ugly truth shows it's face. For every ailment my grandmother ever had, she wanted an easy button. A quick fix. So, like most Americans, she relied on the knowledge of doctors to assist her. You're in pain? There's a prescription for that. Ok, now you can't poop? There's also a prescription for that. Oh, you've got horrible cotton mouth? Prescription. Alright, you've developed cancer? Let's do a couple surgeries and some prescriptions. You can't breathe? We'll give you some air, and a prescription. Your oxygen makes your nose run? There's a pill for excess secretions. Your heart is only working at 30% capacity? More morphine and a little lorazepam to take the edge off. You've become a shell of who you were meant to be and for every prescription, you have 10 side-effects? Perfect, we've got you right where we want you, trapped in this system.

I call bullshit.

And here's what I find interesting. Go to your pantry, pull out a box of cereal. Google each of it's ingredients, and find their purpose, as well as their effects on the human body.

Next, go to your bathroom and do the same for the ingredients in your shampoo. And your OTC medicine. And your tampons.

But these things are all approved by the FDA. Why? Because your system wants to keep you sick, and keep their pockets full. Plain and simple. You eat ingredients that are known to cause ailments. You slather them all over your body. Because if it's for sale at the fucking walmart, it must be ok. And then you wonder why the fuck you are sick all the time. You go to the doctor, they give you a magic pill, and you begin to experience a whole ass boat load of conditions and ailments, they give you more magic pills, covering up the real issue. After all, this is why we have health insurance, yes? We sure do spend a lot of money to stay sick.

Now, I realize modern medicine has it's place. Like, if I fall off the garage and break my leg, I'm gonna need a hand in getting it back to where it needs to be. However, I'd be pretty wary about taking some chemical pain killer to shut my feelings off while I heal. Not because I don't believe that they can keep us from feeling pain temporarily, but because the work my body has to do to process that shit, is more than I want to experience.

The main problem, at it's core, is that we are blinded by a system that keeps failing us. We keep failing. We stay sick. We keep looking for a solution from a broken fucking machine.

As humans, created from nature, our bodies are designed to use what nature gives us to keep us alive and thriving. How the fuck do you think we did it before the invention of synthetic chemicals? We turned to Mother Earth for the answers. In studying the composition of plants, we learned we can create similar chemicals that mimic the properties of these plants, and began mixing them together to create modern medicine. But here's the other problem. Every single human body is different, and responds differently to any chemical, whether derived from nature or created in a lab. Here is the other, other problem. Your human body doesn't recognize, or know what the fuck to do with a bunch of shit mixed together in a lab. Your human body doesn't even know how to process a genetically modified strawberry. A real-ass, non-chemically treated organic strawberry is completely different than one pumped full of bullshit to grow bigger and redder and more delicious-looking. Yes, even our produce is mass-produced and fucked with so that someone, somewhere can gain another dollar. But that price, for me anyway, is way too fucking high. I am in NO WAY perfect when it comes to ingesting food and ingredients that come directly from God's vagina, but I feel that being aware has helped me to make better, healthier choices for myself and my family. Which is my whole point, here. You don't have to be perfect, you just need to be aware.

If it works for you, keep doing what you're doing. Go to the store, load your cart with a bunch of bullshit, go to the doctor to see wtf is wrong with you, go to the pharmacy, eat a pill, then do it all over again next week. My husband always says, "I don't do shit that doesn't make sense." And to me, this toxic cycle we Americans are stuck in, makes absolutely no sense.

I don't go to the doctor. I don't take prescriptions. I rarely even take OTC drugs. Everything I've ever needed to start ANY healing process, can be found in nature or with the help of a holistic professional. I'm not saying there isn't a need for modern medicine, but we're led so hard to believe it is the end-all be-all, and I call bullshit.

"Drug companies are lucky most people are stupid. And most people are stupid because the FDA approves garbage food. Which keeps people stupid. So people get sick because the FDA food is garbage, and the take FDA approved drugs to fix it, which is stupid. But the FDA approves."
